Originally from Tipperary, Ireland, Padraig McCarthy began his career producing showjumpers across Europe and the USA, training under top coaches like Rolf-Göran Bengtsson. He transitioned to eventing in 2013 and quickly rose through the ranks, representing Ireland at the Rio Olympics, securing multiple CCI3* wins, and playing a key role in Nations Cup successes, including a historic team win at Boekelo and a strong fourth-place finish at Aachen.
In 2024, Padraig continued to impress:
- Winner of the CCI4-S* for 8–9-year-olds at Blenheim with home-bred MGH Zabaione
- Team victory for Ireland at Boekelo Nations Cup
- Top placing at Camphire CCI3* with Mr Chunky
- Indoor cross-country winner at CHI Geneva
Now based in Devon with his wife Lucy, Padraig co-founded MGH Sport Horses, known for producing elite young talent across both eventing and showjumping.

Canadian Paralympian | Para-Dressage Grade II
Roberta “Bert” Sheffield is a Canadian-British para-dressage rider based in Lincolnshire, UK. Competing in Grade II, Bert has lived with rheumatoid arthritis for over 20 years and thrives in both Paralympic and able-bodied dressage.
She has represented Canada at three Paralympic Games: Rio 2016, Tokyo 2020, and Paris 2024, where she and her mare Fairuza achieved their best results to date. They finished 5th in both the individual and freestyle Grade II tests, setting a new Canadian Paralympic Record.
Other career highlights include 5th place in the individual test and 6th in freestyle at the 2022 World Equestrian Championships, plus podium finishes at top CPEDI 3* events such as Mannheim and Keysoe. Bert and Fairuza are currently ranked #5 in the FEI Para Dressage World Rankings.
Bert is a three-time Para Dressage Athlete of the Year, and Fairuza has been named Canada’s Para Dressage Horse of the Year twice.

Dressage Rider | Trainer
Based on the West Sussex–Hampshire border, Pip Blain is a passionate dressage rider and trainer competing successfully at Small Tour level. With her top horse Donatella IV (Roo), owned by Jan Palmer, she has achieved podium finishes at the BD Small Tour Championships and the PSG Silver Petplan Final, as well as securing international qualifying scores.
Pip also develops younger horses, including Frodo, who made an inspiring return to competition following major colic surgery, a journey supported throughout by HorseHage.
